The anti-war protest started at Bebelplatz in Berlin on July 2, 2022. The name of the rally was “die Zeitwende, in English, “the turning point”. Under the slogan “we won’t pay for your wars”, people described their views against NATO. Protesters said in several speeches that the rearmament policy is fundamentally wrong, hazardous, and cynical because it means responding to the social crisis with militarism instead of social progress. Protesters were also against the rearmament of the German army and for a new peace movement.
